Bhimsen Jatra is observed today on the nawami of Bhadra. Many people gathered in the Bhimsen Mandir of Patan Durbar Square to offer their homeage as early as 1 AM.

The Patan Durbar Square will be filled with the devotees coming to worship fearless god Bhimsen with dhup, other offerings and along with live stock to scarifice.

Lord Bhimsen is taken as the protector from all the evil spirit and bad omen. So people comes to worship and especially the businessmen comes to offer their homage with a belief that this god will protect their business and make profits.

At night, “Bhimsen Jatra” takes place. The procession is taken through the narrowly ancient streets of Patan, in route that roughly encircles the temple. Throughout the route, people have spilled across the streets where there is much merry-making, which is evident by the gales of laughter mixing with the noise blaring from all direction. The atmosphere is enlivened by the strong aroma of home-made incense. Most of the devotees are burning incense right and left and the aroma hunts the streets numbing every sense, demanding torrents of tear as sacrifice. The crowd makes loud noise along with the beat of traditionaly music which charms the situation.

Similarly, the next day of Krishna astami, Krishna puja takes place. In Krishna puja, people gather and walk in a line paying homeage to all the Krishna temples around the city.
