Commercial paragliding begins in Palpa
Commercial paragliding service has begun in Tansen of Palpa district.
Organizing a press meet on Sunday, officials of Palpa Adventure officially launched paragliding service in Tansen. They said beginning of paragliding service in the district will attract more tourists and increase tourists stay in Palpa.
Barun Prasad Regmi, chairman of Palpa Adventure, said they received permission from the government after conducting several test flights from different hilltops near district headquarters Tansen.
According to officials of Palpa Adventure, paragliding flights will take off from Batase Danda and can land at Prabhas, Tundikhel and Shreenagar.
The tariff for foreign tourists has been fixed at Rs 8,500, while Nepalis will be charged Rs 5,500. The company aims to operate 500 paragliding flights in a year.
Yadav Singh Karki, treasurer of Palpa Adventure, said paragliding is possible in Batase Dada, Shreenagar, Bagnas and Bhusal Danda, among others.
Though some Pokhara-based companies used to operate paragliding service in Tansen and surrounding areas, this is the first time that a local company is starting paragliding service in the district.
Chairman of Palpa Chamber of Commerce and Industry Raju Maharjan said he was hopeful that paragliding will attract more tourists to Palpa.
Palpa Adventure also plans to provide operate other adventure tourism products like horse riding, rafting, cycling and rock climbing in the near future.
