Flood and Landslide in different part of the country

Continuous and heavy rainfall have triggered landslide and flood in different part of the country.
As three days of continous rain has increased the water level in the Mahakali river causing water to enter into settlements. Darchula, Baitadi, Dadeldhura and Kanchanpur districts in the Far West have been hit hard by a flood of the Mahakali River.
Seven people were killed and three got injured after they were buried in a landslide at two various parts of the far-western region of the country on Monday night.
Similarly, five member of a same family were killed in Siddheswor-9, Baitadi when landslide entered the house of Ram Singh Airy.
In another incident in Achham, two people died, and three got injured when landslide triggered by the incessant rainfall for four days hit the house of Min Bahadur Bogati at Kuntiwandali-3 of Achham. In the incident, Min Bahadur’s wife—Anisha Bogati, daughter—Rabina Bogati (4) died on the spot. But Min Bahadur and his two sons got injured.
The incessant rainfall has also affected relief and rescue works. More than 100 houses are at high risks of getting washed away by the rain-swollen Mahakali. Floodwaters from Mahakali have entered parts of the Bhujela region in Kanchanpur district, while Bhimdutta Municpality is also at risk.
Heavy rainfall in the bordering hilly region of the Indian state of Jharkhand has made Mahakali a menacing threat. The water flow rate in Mahakali reached 440,716 cusec on Monday afternoon. It subsided to 374,000 cusec in the evening. When the monsoon was picking up last year, the water flow in the river was measured at 398,000 cusec.
In Dadeldhura district, at least 12 VDCs are vulnerable to Mahakali flood. In Nawalparasi district also, at least a dozen VDCs along the Narayani river banks are at high risk of flood.
Meanwhile, a landslide at Jalpa village in Palpa district swept away six persons on Monday morning. They were later rescued by local people and rushed to hospital for treatment.
Traffic movement along Siddhartha Highway has remained affected due to landslides at various points. Flood in Dumrekhola have destroyed a large swathe of farmland in Madiphat, Prabhas and Banstari.
Two under construction bridges at Masyam and Bhuwanpokhari were also destroyed by floods at Dumrekhola and Hariaapkhola.
