A girl whose head swellen three times as normal size

A tripura girl who is five years old, was born with hydrocephalus, a potentially fatal condition that caused cerebrospinal fluid to build up on her brain.

She had made international headlines due to this rare disease which made her head swell thrice her normal size, making her difficult to sit upright. Her head swell to a circumference of 94 centimetres (37 inches).

According to her family, she died on Sunday at her home in a village in the remote northeast after complaining of breathlessness. She passed away days before she was to undergo corrective surgery.

Publication of pictures taken by an AFP photographer in the remote state of Tripura prompted a New Delhi hospital to treat her for free in 2013.

After several round of surgery at the Fortis Hospital, her head circumference shrank to 58 centimetres.
