Idol of Rato Machindranath install on chariot today
The idol of Rato Machindranath is supposed to be installed on chariot (rath) which is in Thasikot today as per sources.
The long delayed festival due to major earthquake on 25 April resumes after installation of idol into the chariot.
As per sources, the chariot will be pulled little today and it will be pulled further tomorrow.
It is popularly known as one of the longest festival in Nepal, celebrated by Newar community in Lalitpur district, was observing 12 years of festival of Rato Machindranath known as “12 barse mela”.
The chariot was re-build to pull around the city. The festival was officially started on 19 April 2015 after installing idol into chariot in Bugamati.
